A '90s Christmas: More Ripped Jeans and Less Ripped Hearts

Sub Nostalgia Meltdown Featuring Discmen and Turtlenecks

Ah, the '90s – a decade defined by dial-up internet, questionable fashion choices, and now, a time-traveling Santa stuck in flannel. "A '90s Christmas" is like stepping into a time machine that catapults you straight into a grunge-inspired holiday festival, complete with baggy overalls, Tamagotchis, and copious amounts of hair gel.

From start to finish, this film is an absurdly delightful departure from your usual Hallmark movies. Instead of the picturesque snowy cottages and cookie-cutter love stories you'd expect from Hallmark holiday movies, we are treated to a chaotic nostalgia overload where the only thing tighter than a pair of acid-wash jeans is the plot's grip on '90s pop culture references.

Our protagonist, Jamie, is a mall Santa from 2024 who magically travels back in time, landing in a Christmas wonderland where every pagers beep like jingle bells. With her trusted sidekick, a talkative Furby, she embarks on a quest to bring back the joy of boombox caroling and fruitcake (spoiler: it still tastes awful).

It's a merry chaos that unfolds as Jamie tries to navigate the pre-GPS era, armed with a scrunchie and an endless supply of slap bracelets. The film's laugh-out-loud moments include Jamie's attempts to use a rotary phone and her shock upon discovering that not all plaid is created equal.

"A '90s Christmas" doesn't fall short of cheesy, but hey, that's part of its charm. It’s like a trip down memory lane with a foam snow hat. If you’re yearning for a break from the traditional Hallmark holiday movies and ready for a festive overload of grunge sweaters and Walkman tunes, this one's for you.

Just remember: in this jingle all the way, not all reindeers wear antlers – some apparently prefer the backward cap, dude!
