Movie Review: A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love
Subtitle: “Where Coincidence is Just Destiny in a Santa Hat.”

A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love is what happens when Hallmark decides that fate deserves its own holiday rom-com franchise. Packed with twinkling lights, small-town charm, and enough “coincidences” to make you question free will, this movie is a love letter to the idea that the universe (and maybe Santa) is pulling the romantic strings.

The story follows Margie (Brooke D’Orsay), a big-city gal who returns to her small hometown after a series of life setbacks. There, she reconnects with her high school sweetheart, Pat (Sam Page), who still rocks that small-town nice guy charm—and flannel, because Hallmark law requires it. The two begin to rekindle their romance, but not without the help of a series of “Godwinks,” which are basically Hallmark’s version of cosmic nudges, but with more holiday glitter.

Margie is at a crossroads, unsure of what’s next in her life, and Pat seems to have his life sorted, except for the whole “still single and waiting for his Hallmark destiny” part. As they navigate their feelings, they’re bombarded by a string of ridiculously well-timed coincidences—like running into each other in the exact right snow-covered location at the exact right moment, as if the script itself is matchmaking.

Brooke D’Orsay shines as Margie, delivering the perfect mix of holiday cheer and mild existential crisis. Sam Page’s Pat is your classic Hallmark hero: charming, kind, and endlessly patient while waiting for Margie to figure out her feelings. Together, their chemistry feels genuine, even when the universe seems to be pushing them together with the subtlety of a Christmas parade.

The “Godwinks” are a hilariously obvious plot device, ranging from shared encounters to meaningful ornaments appearing out of nowhere. You’ll spend half the movie wondering if there’s a secret Godwink hotline orchestrating the whole thing from the North Pole.

Other highlights include:
- A small-town Christmas festival that somehow involves the entire population despite no one appearing to work.
- Pat’s inexplicable ability to always be in the right place, even when logic says he should probably be at home chopping wood or something.
- Margie’s extended family, who seem to exist solely to wink knowingly at her every time she hesitates about Pat.

The movie hits all the classic Hallmark beats: snowball fights, cookie-baking montages, and heartwarming speeches about love, destiny, and believing in the magic of the season. By the time Margie and Pat finally confess their feelings—probably under some conveniently placed mistletoe—you’ll be rooting for them, if only because fate has been working overtime to make it happen.

A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love is pure Hallmark: cheesy, charming, and packed with holiday spirit. It’s a festive reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a few Godwinks and a whole lot of flannel to find your happily-ever-after. Watch it with a cozy blanket and an open heart—just don’t be surprised if you start looking for your own holiday winks from the universe. 🎄✨❤️
