Review

Movie Review: A Timeless Christmas
Subtitle: “Time Travel, Tinsel, and a Really Confused Millionaire.”

A Timeless Christmas is the Hallmark movie you never knew you needed—combining time travel, holiday romance, and enough Victorian charm to make Charles Dickens himself blush. It’s a festive fish-out-of-water tale that asks the important question: What if a dashing 19th-century millionaire fell in love with a 21st-century tour guide at his own mansion?

The story kicks off in 1903, where Charles Whitley (Ryan Paevey), an inventor-slash-millionaire, buys a magical clock for reasons that are vaguely sciencey but mostly just to set up the plot. Fast-forward (literally) to the present day, and Charles suddenly finds himself transported to 2020, where his mansion is now a museum, and Megan (Erin Cahill), a history buff and guide, is reenacting his life story. Naturally, sparks fly, because nothing says romance like falling for someone who thinks you’re a historical cosplayer.

Ryan Paevey’s Charles is the perfect mix of brooding Victorian charm and modern-day confusion. Watching him navigate smartphones, microwaves, and selfies is both hilarious and endearing. Erin Cahill’s Megan is warm, intelligent, and just skeptical enough to make the story believable—well, as believable as a time-traveling romance can be.

The plot is as delightfully ridiculous as it sounds. Charles and Megan work together to figure out how (and why) he traveled through time, all while participating in holiday traditions that didn’t exist in his era. There’s cookie decorating, awkward gift exchanges, and enough Christmas cheer to make you forget how bizarre the premise actually is.

What really makes the movie shine is Charles’s reactions to modern life. His confusion over electric lights and caroling playlists is priceless, but his old-fashioned manners and swoon-worthy declarations make him the ultimate Hallmark hero. (Let’s face it: who wouldn’t want a boyfriend who bows before dinner?)

The chemistry between Charles and Megan builds naturally, with plenty of cute moments and heartfelt conversations about fate, love, and the meaning of Christmas. By the time they’re decorating the mansion together, you’ll be fully invested in their unlikely romance—and maybe wondering if your clock is secretly a time machine.

The supporting characters add plenty of charm, from Megan’s coworkers who immediately accept Charles’s time-traveling story (because why not?) to the locals who treat him like just another quirky tourist. And let’s not forget the mansion itself, which somehow manages to be both timeless and festively over-decorated in every scene.

A Timeless Christmas is peak Hallmark: it’s sweet, funny, and unapologetically cheesy, with just enough holiday magic to make you believe in time travel—or at least love at first sight across centuries. Watch it with a mug of hot cocoa and prepare for your heart to grow three sizes, even if you’re still trying to figure out how the clock works. 🎄🕰️❤️
