A Very Vermont Christmas: Snowflakes, Sap, and Shenanigans
In the grand, sugar-coated tradition of Hallmark holiday movies, "A Very Vermont Christmas" gifts us with yet another deliciously cheesy tale that will make your heart grow three sizes, whether you like it or not. This merry misadventure, set in a picturesque Vermont town that seems to be stuck in a perpetual snow globe, delivers everything you expect from Hallmark movies and more.
The plot revolves around our plucky heroine, Holly Evergreen (yes, that's her real name, and yes, it screams Hallmark), who must save her family's quaint maple syrup business from becoming a corporate pancake under the looming threat of a city slicker who probably thought Vermont was somewhere near Minnesota. Armed with nothing but a heart of gold and an unstoppable supply of knit scarves, Holly embarks on a mission to out-syrup the syrup tycoons with the help of a dashing, flannel-clad lumberjack named Chad. Spoiler alert: sparks and possibly twinkling Christmas lights may fly.
The film is, admittedly, dripping with cliches thicker than the aforementioned maple syrup. But isn't that why we love Hallmark holiday movies in the first place? The comfort of predictability is part of their charm, like a warm cup of cocoa—predictable, yes, but delightfully satisfying nonetheless. With a soundtrack determined to overemphasize the jingle in jingle bells and a gingerbread house competition that could rival a small-town Olympics, this movie checks every Christmas movie bingo box with gusto.
While the film won't be winning any awards for originality, "A Very Vermont Christmas" succeeds in delivering exactly what it promises: a cozy, heartwarming escape where every problem can be solved with a little Christmas spirit and a romantic subplot that unfolds like a beautifully wrapped present. If you're a fan of Hallmark movies, or just need a break from the reality of holiday shopping lists, this film is your perfect getaway to a land where every day is a snow day, and love is always just around the corner.
So grab your comfiest blanket, pour yourself a mug of something steaming, and prepare to surrender to the inevitable charm of yet another improbably perfect Hallmark holiday. Just don't forget the tissues—for your happy tears or your desperate laughter. Happy viewing!
