Cooking with Love – Stirring Up Romance, One Cliché at a Time

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if MasterChef met Hallmark movies, look no further than Cooking with Love. It’s a recipe for romance that’s equal parts predictable plot, over-the-top charm, and just a pinch of culinary chaos. Spoiler alert: no one burns down a kitchen, but hearts? Oh, those definitely get singed.

Our heroine, Kelly (Ali Liebert), is a buttoned-up, Type A TV producer for a kid’s cooking show who believes in order, structure, and keeping her feelings as bottled up as her organic kombucha. Enter Stephen (Brett Dalton), a hot-headed celebrity chef with a bad-boy attitude and a jawline so sharp it could julienne carrots. After the show’s original host bails faster than you can say “sous-vide,” Stephen is roped in as the last-minute replacement—because when you think kid-friendly, you definitely think grumpy, tattooed chef who throws tantrums over undercooked risotto.

Naturally, these two couldn't be more opposite. Kelly wants everything to go smoothly, while Stephen treats every scene like he’s about to storm out of Hell’s Kitchen. But this is Hallmark Channel movies 101: throw a rigid professional and a rebellious heartthrob together, sprinkle in some forced proximity, and let the romantic tension simmer until it’s boiling over faster than Stephen’s infamous spaghetti incident.

Cue the classic montage of cooking disasters: flour flying like it’s snowing in July, accidental food fights that somehow end with sultry glances, and Stephen teaching Kelly how to whisk eggs in a way that’s way too intimate for a children’s show. Somewhere between burnt soufflés and meaningful conversations over mise en place, these two realize they might be cooking up more than just kid-friendly recipes.

But what’s a Hallmark movie without a last-minute crisis? Just when things are heating up, Stephen’s big-city career calls him back, and Kelly has to decide if she’s willing to trade her predictable life for a dash of spontaneity—and maybe, just maybe, love. Will he choose the glamorous world of celebrity chefs or the small-town charm of a woman who now knows how to perfectly crack an egg? Honestly, is this even a question?

Cooking with Love serves up exactly what you’d expect from Hallmark Channel movies: predictable plot, charming leads, and enough culinary puns to make Gordon Ramsay roll his eyes. But hey, sometimes you just need a feel-good flick with a side of romantic fluff and a happy ending sweeter than the cupcakes they probably bake in the final scene.

Bon appétit, lovebirds.
