Movie Review: Coyote Creek Christmas
Subtitle: “Festive Inns, Family Traditions, and One Overqualified Lumberjack.”
Coyote Creek Christmas is Hallmark’s latest holiday offering, where an idyllic inn becomes the stage for romance, family drama, and enough Christmas decorations to make Santa jealous. As one of the best Hallmark movies, it’s a cozy, feel-good rom-com that teaches us the true meaning of Christmas: cookies, crafts, and kissing handsome strangers under the mistletoe.
The plot follows Paige (Janel Parrish), a high-powered event planner who returns to her family’s inn to help organize its annual holiday festival. But her big-city life takes a twist when Dylan (Ryan Paevey), a single dad with a flannel collection and a knack for carpentry, checks in. Sparks fly as Paige’s meticulously planned event collides with Dylan’s charmingly rugged improvisation—and let’s just say, not even the gingerbread houses are safe.
Janel Parrish’s Paige is your quintessential Hallmark heroine: ambitious, slightly frazzled, and hilariously unprepared for small-town Christmas chaos. Ryan Paevey’s Dylan is peak Hallmark hunk: ruggedly handsome, great with kids, and able to fix a fence and your broken heart in the same afternoon. Their chemistry starts off as playful bickering, quickly evolves into “accidental” hand touches, and culminates in a romantic moment so sweet it might as well come with a side of hot cocoa.
The movie leans hard into its festive setting. The inn is basically a Christmas explosion, with garlands on every surface, twinkling lights in every corner, and at least three trees per room. Every scene looks like it was pulled from a Pinterest board titled “Ultimate Holiday Overachiever.”
The humor shines in Paige’s attempts to keep control of the festival while Dylan casually swoops in to save the day with his down-to-earth charm. Watching her freak out over minor setbacks—like uneven garland placement—while Dylan shrugs and solves everything with a power tool is a delightful clash of personalities. Meanwhile, Paige’s parents hover in the background, clearly rooting for their daughter’s love life as much as the festival’s success- which makes it one of the best Hallmark movies.
Dylan’s adorable son, Noah, steals every scene he’s in, serving as the ultimate wingman for his dad. Whether he’s enthusiastically decorating cookies or accidentally spilling secrets about Dylan’s feelings for Paige, he’s basically a pint-sized Cupid in a Christmas sweater.
The romance hits all the classic Hallmark beats: a snowball fight that turns flirtatious, a heartfelt conversation over cocoa, and a big reveal about Dylan’s secret plans for the inn that threatens to derail everything—until love and Christmas magic save the day, of course. By the time Paige and Dylan share their first kiss under a shower of fake snow, you’ll be cheering like the inn’s overly enthusiastic guests.
Coyote Creek Christmas is one of the best Hallmark movies-- a funny, heartwarming holiday movie that checks all the Hallmark boxes: small-town charm, a dash of drama, and a love story that feels as cozy as your favorite holiday sweater. It’s perfect for anyone who loves festive inns, flirty banter, and the idea that Christmas really can fix everything—especially when Ryan Paevey is involved. 🎄❤️✨
