"Forever in My Heart: A Love Story So Predictable, Even Your Grandma Called It"
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to watch two people fall in love while surrounded by an excessive amount of twinkle lights, snowflakes, and a small-town bakery that inexplicably solves all life’s problems, then Forever in My Heart is the movie for you. Released in 2019, this film is the cinematic equivalent of a warm cup of cocoa—comforting, sweet, and so predictable you could write the script in your sleep.
The plot follows Sarah (played by someone who looks like she’s never had a bad hair day), a big-city career woman who returns to her quaint hometown for the holidays. There, she reconnects with her high school sweetheart, Jake (a ruggedly handsome handyman who apparently only owns flannel shirts). Spoiler alert: they fall in love. Again. Shocking, I know.
What sets Forever in My Heart apart from other Hallmark movies is… well, absolutely nothing. It’s got all the classic Hallmark holiday movie tropes: a quirky best friend who exists solely to give advice, a montage of decorating a Christmas tree, and a misunderstanding that could be resolved with a single conversation but instead drags on for 20 minutes. Oh, and let’s not forget the obligatory scene where Sarah learns the true meaning of Christmas (hint: it’s love, but also probably pie).
The dialogue is so cheesy it could double as a fondue recipe. Lines like, “Sometimes, the heart knows what the mind can’t understand,” are delivered with such earnestness that you’ll either swoon or roll your eyes so hard you’ll see your brain. But hey, that’s the charm of Hallmark movies—they’re like a warm blanket of clichés that you can’t help but snuggle into.
In conclusion, Forever in My Heart is the perfect movie to watch if you’re in the mood for something that requires zero brainpower and maximum emotional fluff. It’s not going to win any Oscars, but it might just win a spot in your annual rotation of Hallmark holiday movies. Just make sure you have some eggnog and a cozy sweater handy—you’re going to need them.
Rating: 3 out of 5 twinkle lights. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s exactly what you signed up for.
