Love in Design: When Renovation Meets Romance (and Predictability!)
If you've ever found yourself binge-watching Hallmark movies while sipping hot cocoa and wondering, "Haven't I seen this one before?", then congratulations—you’ve probably already seen Love in Design (2018), even if you haven't. Starring Danica McKellar (Queen of Hallmark!) and Andrew W. Walker (also Hallmark royalty), this film serves up the classic Hallmark holiday movies formula, minus the snow, but with an extra coat of fresh paint.
McKellar plays Hannah, an ambitious interior designer who gets sent back to her charming small town (surprise!) to renovate a historic mansion for a TV show. Enter her old flame Jeff, played by Walker, a hometown architect who is about as thrilled about change as Hallmark is about plot twists. Naturally, sparks fly, awkward run-ins happen, and before you can say “Will they rekindle their love?”, you already know the answer.
Expect scenic town squares, flirty banter over blueprints, and a budget-friendly rom-com soundtrack that sounds vaguely familiar. Will the mansion be restored? Will Hannah rediscover the magic of her roots? Will Jeff give up his stubborn ways and admit that love is worth the risk? Come on, this is Hallmark. We all know the answer.
Final Verdict:
If you love Hallmark movies for their cozy predictability and small-town charm, Love in Design is another perfectly gift-wrapped story of love, nostalgia, and well-placed throw pillows. If you were hoping for anything remotely unexpected—maybe a rogue bulldozer or a last-minute twist where Hannah runs off to become a traveling mural artist—then sorry, wrong channel. But hey, at least the set design is impeccable.
