Movie Review: Meet Me at Christmas
Subtitle: “Lost Love, Last-Minute Weddings, and a Lot of Lingering Looks.”

Meet Me at Christmas is Hallmark’s heartfelt dive into what happens when you mix postponed romance, wedding disasters, and an avalanche of holiday décor. It’s a slow-burn love story that proves sometimes the most romantic thing you can do is… plan someone else’s wedding?

The movie follows Joan (Catherine Bell), a quietly charming single mom whose life is thrown into festive chaos when her son’s Christmas Eve wedding coordinator flakes out at the last minute. Enter Beau (Mark Deklin), the groom’s uncle and an impossibly handsome photographer, who volunteers to help Joan save the day. As they scramble to pull together a Pinterest-worthy event, they realize they’ve met before—and maybe should’ve exchanged numbers instead of wistful goodbyes.

Catherine Bell is lovely as Joan, bringing just the right mix of calm competence and “I wasn’t expecting to run into my almost-soulmate this week” energy. Mark Deklin’s Beau is the kind of guy who looks like he belongs on the cover of a winter romance novel: rugged, artistic, and always ready with a meaningful stare. Together, their chemistry unfolds like a Hallmark checklist: tree decorating? Check. A near kiss under mistletoe? Double check.

The wedding-planning chaos is exactly what you’d expect from a Hallmark movie. There are cookie tastings, emergency tuxedo fittings, and a scene where Beau somehow charms a florist into loaning them exactly the right centerpieces, because that’s just what Hallmark heroes do. Meanwhile, Joan and Beau are clearly using these activities as excuses to spend more time together, because who wouldn’t fall in love while crafting DIY place cards?

The small-town setting is as cozy as it gets, with twinkling lights, friendly neighbors, and a Christmas Eve backdrop so perfect it feels like the set designer won a bet. Every interaction between Joan and Beau is drenched in holiday magic, from a snow-dusted stroll to an impromptu dance under the stars. Honestly, it’s a miracle they ever got any wedding planning done.

Of course, there’s a bit of emotional tension—Joan’s cautious heart, Beau’s wandering lifestyle, and the lingering “what if” from their missed connection. But don’t worry, this is Hallmark, so it’s all resolved with a grand romantic gesture and a perfectly timed snowfall. (Seriously, how do they schedule these snowstorms so well?)

The real MVP of the movie, though, is the wedding itself. Despite all the chaos, it comes together beautifully, serving as the perfect backdrop for Joan and Beau to finally acknowledge what everyone else in town figured out hours ago: they’re meant to be together. Cue the kiss, applause, and yet another snowfall, because why not?

Meet Me at Christmas is a tender, slow-paced holiday romance that leans into the magic of second chances. It’s perfect for anyone who loves love, believes in fate, or thinks there’s nothing more romantic than falling for someone while setting up folding chairs. Watch it with a warm blanket, a cup of cocoa, and a heart ready to swoon. 🎄💍❤️
