Description

Subtitle: Nothing says “Christmas magic” quite like saving a market from a developer while falling in love with the guy holding the blueprints.
O Little Christmas Market takes the classic Hallmark movies formula and adds one of humanity's greatest holiday traditions: desperately trying to prevent a perfectly good Christmas market from being bulldozed.
Olivia is a talented miniature artist who loves the local Christmas market. Grayson is an architect working on the development project threatening it. Which means, naturally, these two are destined to fall in love. Because apparently the fastest way to find your soulmate is to discover that their employer is trying to destroy the thing you love most.
This is Hallmark holiday movies at its finest. There is a charming Christmas market, an adorable small-town community, a looming corporate development, and two attractive people who somehow manage to spend an extraordinary amount of time together despite being professionally positioned on opposite sides of the same problem.
The movie also demonstrates the fundamental laws of Hallmark romance: The more impossible the situation, the more likely a Christmas miracle is just around the corner. A development deal threatening an entire market? No problem. A budding romance complicated by conflicting interests? Easy. Saving the local economy before Christmas? Apparently all you need is a little determination, some festive decorations, and approximately 84 minutes.
You can practically see the plot checkpoints coming from a mile away. First comes the disagreement. Then the reluctant collaboration. Then the meaningful conversation surrounded by Christmas lights. Then someone realizes they may have made a terrible mistake. Then, finally, the magical solution appears just in time for everyone to celebrate Christmas together.
And honestly, that's why these movies work. O Little Christmas Market isn't trying to reinvent cinema. It's here to provide Christmas cheer, attractive people in winter coats, a picturesque market, and the comforting knowledge that no holiday crisis is too large to be solved before the final commercial break.
The only real question is why every town doesn't have a Christmas market capable of generating this much romantic tension. City planners everywhere should probably take notes.
