"Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance" – Where the Only Thing Colder Than the Glaciers Is the Dialogue

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if Hallmark movies and a National Park brochure had a baby, Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance is here to answer that question. Released in 2023, this film is a masterclass in predictability, complete with sweeping shots of snow-capped mountains, a meet-cute involving a sprained ankle, and enough hot cocoa to drown a moose.

The plot is as follows: City girl (who hates the outdoors but inexplicably wears a $500 Patagonia jacket) meets rugged park ranger (who has never heard of Wi-Fi but somehow has perfect hair). They bond over saving a baby deer, argue about something trivial, and then fall in love while the Northern Lights do all the heavy lifting. Spoiler alert: By the end, she’s trading her stilettos for hiking boots, and he’s learning to appreciate the magic of artisanal coffee. Groundbreaking.

What sets this apart from other Hallmark holiday movies is the sheer audacity of its setting. Instead of the usual small-town Christmas market or cozy inn, we get glaciers. Yes, glaciers. Because nothing says romance like subzero temperatures and the constant threat of hypothermia. The filmmakers clearly thought, “Why not make the scenery as icy as the chemistry between our leads?”

Speaking of chemistry, the two leads try their best, but let’s be real—this isn’t The Notebook. It’s more like The Post-It Note. Their banter is so stiff, you’d think they were reading from a park ranger’s safety manual. (“Did you know glaciers move at a rate of 1-2 feet per day?” “Wow, that’s almost as slow as our relationship!”)

But let’s not be too harsh. Love in Glacier National knows exactly what it is: a cozy, low-stakes escape for people who just want to watch attractive people fall in love while surrounded by nature’s majesty. It’s the cinematic equivalent of a warm blanket, a cup of tea, and a mild headache. If you’re a fan of Hallmark movies, you’ll probably love it. If you’re not, well, at least the scenery is nice.

Final verdict: 2.5 out of 5 stars. It’s not the worst Hallmark holiday movie ever made, but it’s definitely not the Everest of romance films. More like a gentle hill. With glaciers. And a baby deer.
